Sayonara, Japan, until I see you next time. Here are some of the remaining photos of my solo trip to Japan - it's from the two days that I visited Kyoto when I rented a bike to get around the dreamy city. While in Kyoto I visited Kiyomizu-dera Temple 音羽山清水寺, which like all the other temples that I visited left me in awe at it's size and beauty. After the long walk through Kiyomizu-dera Temple I did a lot of my shopping and sightseeing at Higashiyama District and of course I had to get an iconic green tea treat in the form of ice-cream and I couldn't resist purchasing a pair of tea cups for my mother. My second to last day in Japan after I visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine, I made my way to the Gion district of Kyoto which is famous for being the last geisha district in Japan - sadly I did not get to see a geisha! You hear stories about the charm of Gion and it feels like you've stepped into a different era of very well kept wooden tea houses. One thing I regret not doing on my trip was seeing the bamboo groves in Kyoto and seeing more of Kyoto. I wish I could have visited Kobe and explored more of Osaka. It's wonderful that Japan is less than a two hour plane ride and I plan to make another trip there maybe during the fall with friends or family for a longer period of time.
I hope you've added Japan to your travel list!
