Happy 2016!

When the clock struct midnight to welcome the new year, my friends and I were watching the fireworks at Taipei 101 and drinking our first shots of 2016 - Tequila! We danced and drank the night away until the early morning. 2015 was a year of many highs and lows and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Cheers to an adventurous and spectacular 2016!

Taipei, Taiwan

One of Asia's best hidden secrets, this is what I came to call Taipei after my first night here. When I told people of my little getaway to Taiwan, many of them thought I was going to Thailand, and I've noticed it's not on a lot of traveller's itinerary. This is so sad to hear, as Taipei is such a delightful city to visit with kind and helpful locals who went out of their way to help you.

Without a plan or knowing what Taipei had to offer and going off helpful hints from friends and lovely people on Instagram, my day to day was spontaneous and very in the moment. I ate my way through night markets, had so many dumplings and bowls of noodles that I lost count, shopped in Ximending, and enjoyed a slow walk through Mengjia Long Shan Temple 艋舺龍山寺. The best parts were probably the food and drinks at the many delicious restaurants and drink shops. One thing you can't forget to buy is Bubble Tea, and here's a little fact, it originated in Taiwan! My favorite was grape bubble tea and iced-pineapple tea.

I'm so thankful for my new friends for creating some of the happiest moments of the trip with me.

Don't forget to visit Taiwan! Where to next?
