Oh Sephora, the place where girls dreams of makeup and beauty supplies come to life. Guilty as charged, I bought some new products because my makeup collection needed a little love. Last year I did a huge downsize of my collection and threw away a lot of products I've be holding onto. Mostly it was because I am moving soon and needed to clean out my room and also due to a mini break-out which caused paranoia of keeping products too long. Another reason was because I was trying to make way for more natural brands.
I'm always trying out new brands and products to find something gentle for my skin. Having a good skin care routine that works for you is important. I'm not obsessed with having perfectly clear skin, but I care about healthy skin. Starting in middle school I had severe acne and acne marks that covered most of my face and back and it really hurt my self esteem. As if trying to figure yourself out and get through classes wasn't enough already. I went to extreme measures such as being on birth control in middle school to harsh creams that left my skin so dry and cracked it was painful. Accutane was an option I wanted to try, but the side effects were a little too scary my Mother decided against it. Well, now my skin is doing very good thanks to a (mostly natural) routine that I stick to. So, to get some new beauty and hair products, I went on Sephora and purchased a few items that I'm sure will become favorites.
I first noticed IGK hair products on a blog while reading reviews for another hair brand and fell in love with the cute packaging and affordable prices. Also, their line is vegan and cruelty free. I purchased the Hot Girls Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner, and the Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm, and the Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel. All these products smell amazing!
IGKs products are grouped into three cities (Miami, LA and NY) with their own scents and Sephora describes them as:
Miami: lush, vibrant notes of guava, coconut water, pink lotus, midnight violet, and vanilla.
New York: sophisticated notes of black pepper, blackberries, dewy violet, geranium, and leather accord.
LA: a refreshingly bright arrangement of bergamot, lemon zest, mimosa, heliotrope, and black amber.
Farmacy is another brand that caught my attention on Sephora. I got their Skin Savior Gift Set and New Dawn Medley Face Mask.
Farmacy products are not tested on animals and are free of parabens, formaldehyde and artificial coloring. On their site they state, "Farmer cultivated, scientist activated for fresh, radiant skin." Their products are true to their values as you can find carrot, broccoli, cucumber, apples and other farmed items in their products. I'll be buying the full sized products soon because my skin loves the products. Another brand I recommend that is similar to Farmacy (using fresh ingredients) is Youth to the People.
Dr. Jart+ is a brand I've come to love after I purchased their Dermaclear Micro Milk Peel and Dermask Micro Jet Brightening Solution. It worked well when I broke out and needed to lighten spots and get newer skin. Dr. Jart+ is quite popular for the results, which is why I wanted to try their Dermaclear Trans-Foam Clay cleansers. They offer three for different needs and I bought them all to use depending on the condition of my skin. The cleaners are like a mix of a clay mask and cleanser and leaves skin feeling magically clean.
I purchased a variety of lip products, a lip set and one eyeshadow palette. Tarte is one of my favorite brands and their products are great for all skin types. Tarte is cruelty free and natural, and doesn't contain those harsh and harmful chemicals and ingredients. Also, their packaging and colors are lovely. I got the Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette because it's been on my wish list for a while after I purchased the Tartlette in Bloom Eyeshadow Clay Palette. I think with these two palettes it's all you need because it has every shade you could think of if you don't really like a lot of color. Bite Beauty lip products are handmade, have natural ingredients and are cruelty free, so I purchased two of their mini lip kits. Being the nude lip addict that I am, I got the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip kit.
